Firewall | Proxy Server | Transparent Bridge | Mail-Relay Server

CIPAFilter can be installed as a firewall, router, proxy server, or transparent bridge. It can also be installed as a mail-relay server located anywhere on the network. CIPAFilter is designed to work in conjunction with existing products, but also easily replaces existing solutions. Whether or not to replace product depends on what features that are purchased, and which configuration best fits the needs of the network.

As Firewall

CIPAFilter is an advanced firewall and Ethernet router right out of the box. As a firewall most of the features operate in a "transparent proxy" mode, allowing CIPAFilter to intercept and process traffic before it reaches the computers on the network.

Features such as virus scanning, pornography filtering, download blocking, bandwidth monitoring, web reporting and more, can all be used with CIPAFilter configured as a firewall. There are no settings to change or software to install on the individual computers, just place the unit and select which features you want enabled.

As a firewall, you can use NAT, Port Forwarding, DHCP Services, chat and peer-to-peer traffic blocking, VPN's, and easily manage these configurations with a web-page interface. You can also use CIPAFilter's support personnel to help configure advanced rules, or for consulting on the best method of protecting your network.

As Proxy Server

There are many cases in which it makes most sense to install CIPAFilter as a single proxy server on the network, and not as the Internet Gateway. In this configuration, computers are required to have a proxy server setting for the Internet browser, directing Internet-bound traffic through CIPAFilter prior to exiting the network.

With a manual proxy server setting on the client machines, you can force users to authenticate before Internet access is allowed, thereby controlling Internet access privileges, and also more easily finding out who tripped the pornography filter.

As Transparent Bridge

If you want to filter and virus scan your network traffic, but keep the existing firewall and eliminate having to set proxy server settings on client browsers, you can configure CIPAFilter to bridge the interfaces. This is a very easy way to add the CIPAFilter technology to the network, without disrupting any current infrastructure or investment.

As Mail-Relay Server

If you are only using the mail functions of CIPAFilter, such as Anti-Spam and e-mail virus protection, CIPAFilter can be located most anywhere on the network. As long as mail is routed to the correct IP address and CIPAFilter has access to the mail server.
